Tanner Bingaman's Pretty Big Garden
WRITHING FOLK FROM THE HILLS OF APPALACHIA
Tanner Bingaman's Pretty Big Garden is a recording project and live-performance outfit built around the distinct songwriting and arrangements found throughout Tanner's eclectic repertoire. The debut record from Tanner Bingaman's Pretty Big Garden, Everything & Nothing explores sonic territory from raw field recordings to polished pop gems, pulling from a wealth of influences spanning folk-punk to ambient to Indian classical, featuring a wild range of tonalities and instrumentation. Think Pinegrove meets Tyler Childers with a touch of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones; the sound of writhing folk forged from Appalachian mud. Everything & Nothing is out now on limited edition cassette, CD, and vinyl formats, as well as streaming everywhere. The sophmore album from Tanner Bingaman's Pretty Big Garden was made possible by generous fans of the project through a successful crowdfunding campaign, and the record is due out this 2026.
Tanner Bingaman’s Pretty Big Garden
Tanner Bingaman’s Pretty Big Garden is a sonic tapestry woven from the soil of Central Pennsylvania. Led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tanner Bingaman, the project is less of a traditional band and more of a shifting, organic collective that explores the intersections of psychedelic folk, Americana, and avant-garde storytelling.
Known for a sound that feels both ancient and experimental, the "Garden" is rooted in Bingaman’s distinctive songwriting—lyrics that alternate between whimsical naturalism and gritty, introspective realism. His music often mirrors the landscape from which it grew: sprawling, unpredictable, and deeply atmospheric.
The Sound & Vision
The project is celebrated for its dynamic live performances, which range from intimate, stripped-back acoustic sets to lush, feedback-drenched improvisations. Common musical threads in The Pretty Big Garden include:
Intricate Fingerstyle Guitar & Banjo: A foundation of technical folk proficiency.
Experimental Textures: The use of found sounds, unconventional percussion, and warped melodies.
Poetic Narrative: Songs that serve as vignettes of rural life, mythology, and the surreal.
Notable Work
With releases like Everything & Nothing and various collaborative efforts, Bingaman has carved out a niche as a "songwriter’s songwriter" within the DIY folk circuit. His work consistently challenges the boundaries of the genre, inviting listeners to step into a world where the pastoral meets the psychedelic.
Whether performing solo or with a rotating cast of talented musicians, Tanner Bingaman's Pretty Big Garden remains a testament to the power of independent, earth-bound art—a place where every song is an invitation to get lost in the weeds and find something beautiful.

Donation: Buy Tanner a pack of strings
It takes a whole lotta strings to make it through a year of pickin' 6, 12, and 5-stringed instruments... About 30 packs or more, in case you're wondering. That's a lotta cheddar to spend on metal.
Thank you for pitching in!
Donation: Buy Tanner a tank of gas.
Sharing all these songs and this art with the public is a mighty big undertaking... often I'm logging over 30,000 miles in a season to share songs and stories all over the Lower 48, and occasionally beyond.
Donation: Buy Tanner a hotel room for a night
Sharing all these songs and this art with the public is a mighty big undertaking... often I'm logging over 30,000 miles in a season to share songs and stories all over the Lower 48. Sometimes I am simply too tired to keep driving/it is unsafe to camp... a night in a clean hotel room can feel like a mighty fine gift.
Donation: Sponsor a video
Enjoy the fancy live-shot videos Tanner makes? They are very expensive to produce. It helps a whole lot when folks sponsor one.
Video sponsors can be made anonymously or publicly (credits in the video description)
i like songs. maybe you like songs? maybe you also want to sponsor the next song release?
producing, mixing, master, players, artwork, time, money, energy, copyright, registration... it takes a lot of behind the scenes happenings to release a song.
thank you for the consideration.
p.s. if you've heard something live that hasn't been released that you'd like to have on record, send me a line
I've met folks for which ten thousand dollars is a minor rounding error. I've never found myself in that position, but I'm not here to judge. A 10K donation would produce the next album. Thanks!
